What's Happening in Town
New Brunswick is a dynamic city with a vibrant arts, culture and restaurant scene. The home of Rutgers University the city is a college town enriched by what a large university brings to the community. Dubbed the City, New Brunswick boasts two teaching hospitals, the largest medical school in the country and is the home of Johnson & Johnson health care products company. New, (aka the Hub City), is easily accessible by major highways as well as by bus and train (including NJ Transit train from Newark Liberty Airport). Two of the finest hotels in the region are located downtown, within easy walking distance of The Frog and The Peach.
New Brunswick City Market, a nonprofit corporation whose function is to market and manage the city’s downtown, coordinates programs which from time to time include dinner-theater-hotel packages. The Frog and The Peach participates when the program clicks for us.
New Brunswick Rocks
Okay, so that's the "white bread" description. What you really need to know is that NEW BRUNSWICK ROCKS! Not for shopping....we don't have much of that to brag about. What we do have however is the hottest dining and entertainment scene in the state of New Jersey. What makes it really special is the friendly collaboration amongst the restaurants, theaters/entertainment venues and hotels. We collectively work hard to make your trip to downtown New Brunswick the night on the town you'll want to repeat. Newbrunswickrocks.com lists the participating venues and happenings.
Off Premise Charitable and Networking Events
We generally do what we do right here at 29 Dennis Street as we don't have the staff to take our show on the road. Occasionally we do go out to support a great cause. Generally every year you will find us at Taste of the Nation as well as Elijah’s Promise Chef's Night, cooking up a storm with other restaurants for the benefit of those less fortunate.
You can expect to find us at the following places in 2009:
First Reformed Church Benefit. The NJ Gay Men's Chorus Concert. January 31, 2009 (see above)
Taste of the Nation. Princeton. Monday April 20, 2009
Betsy is the honory Chairperson of the 2009 Taste of the Nation
For information and tickets visit the website for the Princeton Taste of the Nation.
Elijah's Promise A Chef's Night. Monday June 29, 2009
Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce Networking event on the roof of the Hyatt.
CONCERT TO BENEFIT OUR NEIGHBORHOOD CHURCH
The Frog and The Peach will be serving hors d’oeuvres before the concert, which starts at 8:00 (hors d’oeuvres and silent auction at 7:00), a benefit for historic preservation of this neighborhood church, constructed in 1812. Laying the cornerstone was Rev. John Henry Livingston who, like two other pastors of First Church in this era, was also president of Rutgers University, then Queen’s College. The steeple of the church houses the “town clock,” maintained to this day by the city of New Brunswick.
Tickets for the concert are $20 advance purchase and $25 at the door. For tickets and information contact the church, 9 Bayard Street (on the corner of Neilson St.) at 732-545-1005.
