Almost three decades ago, in the summer of 1983, pioneers of fine dining Betsy Alger and her husband Jim Black opened The Frog and The Peach with two goals in mind: first, to elevate contemporary fine dining in New Jersey; and second, to help kick-start the renaissance of downtown New Brunswick, one of the Garden State's most dynamic and fast growing cities. Twenty nine years later, the proof of their success can be found in not only the restaurant itself, but also the greater downtown area which it helped to revitalize.
Moving forward, it will be longtime Executive Chef Bruce Lefebvre’s responsibility to maintain that creative sensibility and flair for reinvention, as he purchased The Frog and The Peach from Jim and Betsy in April 2012.
Though taking on the additional role of proprietor, Bruce will remain at the helm in the kitchen, and thus the cuisine will remain "modern American with an international spin". General Manager and Sommelier Jim Mullen will endure in his quest to provide The Frog's award winning wine list with a broad range of selections, chosen for quality as well as value; and, of course, The Frog will maintain its standard for providing only the best authentic, warm and informed service.
Housed in an historic industrial building, The Frog is an upscale, modern American restaurant. Among the restaurant’s added highlights are an inviting wine and cocktail bar, a vibrant garden room open year around, and several unique rooms and spaces perfect for dinners and private events. Our in-house Event Planner, Jack Tagmouti, is available to help plan your perfect event, professional or personal.
The Frog and The Peach has received countless accolades throughout its history, most recently a three and a half star review in New Jersey Monthly Magazine, as well as “Critic’s Choice for Top 25". Our guests agree, awarding the restaurant a 26 rating for food and a 24 rating for service in the most recent Zagat Survey. In New Jersey Monthly's Readers Poll, The Frog consistently garners top awards: Best of The Best, Best Upscale Dining, Best American, Best Lunch, and Most Romantic. Since it's inception, we've also received Open Table's Diner's Choice Award each year.
